Tohono O’odham High School

Tohono O’odham High School is a vibrant community catering to 9th-12th grade students. At TOHS, we focus on preparing young minds for academic achievement and successful living. We foster a positive and encouraging environment, promoting effective learning while celebrating cultural identities. Be part of a stimulating educational journey, embracing growth, knowledge and self-discovery as we prepare the leaders of tomorrow.

TOHS, is undertaking a new initiative during the 2024-2025 school year. We are committed to reopening our vocational shop classes, which include auto, carpentry, and metalworking, shops with the aim of equipping our high school students with the skills and certifications necessary to successfully enter the workforce upon graduation.

To achieve this goal, it is essential that we update our current equipment to meet industry standards. We are seeking grant funding to assist us in purchasing modern auto repair equipment, including a new vehicle lift, which is crucial for providing our students with hands-on experience in a safe and effective learning environment.

The vocational programs at TOHS have a long history of preparing students for successful careers, and we believe that with the right resources, we can enhance our curriculum and better serve our students.

For over 20 years, the Baboquivari Unified School District has had an Alternative Campus to help the students most in danger of dropping out. As the years have gone by, the total enrollment has risen. What first started out as a few students has grown to over 100. Alternative education can serve students who need or thrive in an environment other than a traditional school setting. These students may face challenges at home, school, or in their community, and may be more vulnerable to school failure in a traditional academic setting. Alternative education aims to provide equitable access to innovative teaching and learning methods that help students meet graduation requirements, prepare for post-secondary experiences, and become productive members of their communities.

University of Arizona – American Indian Alumni

Our mission is to support American Indian alumni of the University of Arizona by providing networking opportunities, serving as a liaison between the university and our alumni membership, and by recognizing personal and professional achievement of our membership. In addition, AIA supports American Indian students through mentorship, community service and the provision of scholarship opportunities.

Awarding scholarships with the charitable support of donors, friends, and the Arizona community is one of the most important things we do. Scholarships provide access to college for students who otherwise could not afford it and bring the best and brightest minds to the university.

Baboquivari Unified School District - Sunrise House Family Resource Center

The Baboquivari Unified School District (BUSD) Family & Community Engagement Department is dedicated to improving student success by connecting families with vital resources and fostering strong community partnerships. Our mission extends beyond crisis intervention—we focus on proactive support that addresses challenges before they impact student stability and academic achievement.

Since its establishment in April 2016, the Si’alig Ki: Sunrise House Family Resource Center has been a cornerstone of our outreach, providing a food pantry, clothing bank, and educational programs at no cost to families. Funds will expand efforts in key areas that directly benefit students and families:

  • Healthy Cooking & Nutrition Classes – GasOne burners and Bella cookware sets will allow families to participate in hands-on cooking workshops promoting wellness and nutrition.
  • Beyoutiful Girls Wellness Workshops – TBH Kids Skin Care Kits and Always Ultra Thin Pads will support hygiene education and self-care for young girls.
  • Resource Distribution Events – Backpacks with supplies, fleece blankets, and other essentials will be provided to students in need.
  • BUSD Laundry Services Initiative – Funding will help purchase LG washers and dryers, along with detergent and fabric softener, ensuring students have access to clean clothes.
  • Catered Holiday Meal for annual Miracle on Main Street event – A special holiday meal will foster community connection and provide a warm gathering space for families on the Tohono O’odham Nation. The annual event brings in nearly 1000 people each year.

By providing these essential resources, we aim to reduce financial burdens, improve student well-being, and create a stable environment where children can focus on learning and growth. Your support ensures that families in the Tohono O’odham Nation receive the assistance they need to build stronger, healthier futures.
